A move within the town, or across to Harrogate a few minutes west on the A59, is short on the road: an old-town cottage to a house with a garden on the edge of town, say, or a flat to a semi. On those the loading and the carry take the time, not the driving. The van itself comes up from Bradford on the A658 through Yeadon and Pool-in-Wharfedale and round the Harrogate southern bypass, 22 miles and 40 to 55 minutes.
