Two things decide a town-centre collection here. The market takes the Market Place from half past seven until three every Wednesday, which removes the only realistic loading space for properties at the castle end of town. And the Nidd has just two crossings in the middle of town, High Bridge and Low Bridge, both narrow with blind approaches, so when one is closed the other becomes everyone's route.
Away from the cliff it is a completely different job. Aspin, Eastfield and Stockwell are estate housing with drives and room to swing a long van, and the newer stock at Grimbald Crag and Scriven is easier still. Families outgrowing the cramped cottages by the river are usually the ones selling the sofa, and theirs is usually the harder of the two addresses, so ask which side of town the seller is on.
