Same-Day Courier in Knaresborough

Two very different jobs share one postcode here. A drop at St James Business Park is off the A59 and done in minutes; a delivery to a cottage above the Nidd gorge means parking at the top of the hill and walking down. The A658 covers the twenty-two miles in forty to fifty-five minutes.

The business parks are easy, the gorge is not

The A658 runs from Greengates out through Apperley Bridge, Yeadon and Pool-in-Wharfedale and joins the A59 just east of town, which is a piece of luck for courier work. St James Business Park on Grimbald Crag Road, St James Retail Park and the Manse Lane estate all sit on that side, so a trade or office delivery lands without the van ever touching the historic centre. Give us a goods-in cut-off time and we will work back from it.

Down in the old town it is a different exercise. Kirkgate, Waterside and the cobbled Water Bag Bank are steep, narrow and partly setted, and a long wheelbase van often cannot get closer than the top of the hill. Only two bridges cross the Nidd, High Bridge and Low Bridge, both narrow and blind, so if one is shut the other is the only way over. On Wednesdays the market takes Market Place from half past seven until three, removing the one realistic loading space in the centre.

What Knaresborough same-day courier usually involves

  • Twenty-two miles from Bradford on the A658 through Apperley Bridge, Yeadon and Pool, realistically forty to fifty-five minutes
  • St James Business Park, St James Retail Park and Manse Lane are all reached off the A59 bypass, so those drops never enter the town
  • Market Place gives a free first hour but is full by mid-morning, and closed entirely by the Wednesday market between half seven and three
  • Riverside and castle-side addresses have no off-street access, so the last stretch goes up the steps on a trolley from Conyngham Hall or Chapel Street
  • Tell us which side of the river the address is on when you book, because High Bridge and Low Bridge are the only two ways across

Where in Knaresborough we work

  • St James Business Park, Grimbald Crag Roadtrade and office deliveries straight off the A59, the quickest drop in town
  • Manse Lane industrial estateworkshop parts and stock, with room to get a long van alongside
  • St James Retail Parkretail and stock drops on the bypass side, easy to fit in late in the day
  • Chain Lane retail areashop deliveries where the van works from the nearest car park rather than the shopfront
  • Market Place and High Streetoffices and shops in the historic core, workable outside the Wednesday market
  • Waterside and Kirkgategorge-side addresses where the van stops at the top and the item is carried down

If your street isn't listed it's almost certainly still covered, Knaresborough and the surrounding HG5 postcodes are all inside our normal working area.

Common Knaresborough runs

  • Bradford to Knaresboroughtwenty-two miles on the A658, forty to fifty-five minutes door to door
  • Knaresborough to Harrogatea few minutes along the bypass, so both towns can go on one run
  • Knaresborough to the A1(M) at junction 47four miles out, useful when the consignment carries on the same day

What it costs

What drives the price is urgency and which side of town the address sits on, because a bypass business park and a cottage above the gorge take very different amounts of time. There's no travel surcharge for coming to Knaresborough from Bradford, and you get the price before we set off, not after. See how we quote for the full breakdown.

Frequently asked questions: same-day courier in Knaresborough

How quickly can you get to Knaresborough from Bradford?

It is twenty-two miles on the A658 and honestly forty to fifty-five minutes, longer if Yeadon or the Harrogate bypass is busy. Same-day is realistic if you ring in the morning, and a collection here with a delivery back into Bradford fits comfortably into one working day.

Can you deliver to a shop or cottage in the old town?

Yes, though the van will not be at the door. Kirkgate, Waterside and Water Bag Bank are steep, narrow and part setted, so we stop at the nearest legal point and carry the item down on a trolley. On Wednesdays the market closes Market Place, so an early slot is far better.

Do you deliver to St James Business Park before goods-in closes?

That is exactly what the service is for. The park sits off the A59 on the Bradford side of town, so we can leave with a cut-off in mind and get there without going near the centre. Tell us the closing time and the unit number when you book.
