Retail park to riverside: two ends of the same town
The furniture end of this town is all on the flat, out by the A59. St James Retail Park and the business units on Grimbald Crag Road have loading bays and room to swing a van, while Manse Lane and Chain Lane cover the trade sort of buy. Collection there takes minutes: an order number, a goods-out door, and the piece blanketed and strapped before it moves an inch.
Delivery is a different town altogether. Kirkgate, Waterside and the cobbled Water Bag Bank drop toward the Nidd gorge, steep, narrow and partly setted, and the only two crossings, High Bridge and Low Bridge, are both narrow with blind approaches. On Wednesdays the market takes the Market Place from half seven until three, removing the one realistic loading space in the old town. Up at Aspin and Grimbald Crag it is driveways and short carries.
What Knaresborough furniture & large item transport usually involves
- Wednesday market runs on the Market Place from 7.30am to 3pm, so old-town deliveries are booked either side of it
- The historic streets are double-yellowed with very limited waiting, so a Kirkgate or Waterside address means an early loading window or a shuttle from the Conyngham Hall or Chapel Street car parks
- From Bradford it is the A658 through Greengates, Apperley Bridge, Yeadon and Pool-in-Wharfedale to the A59 just east of town, roughly 22 miles
- Newer housing around Grimbald Crag and Scriven has drives and wide halls, which usually turns a two-person carry into a ten-minute job
- When a new bed or suite goes in, the old one can come out with us the same visit; that is item replacement, not a house clearance

What it costs
Price is set by the size of the piece, the carry at the delivery end and the time the job needs, rather than the miles between us. There's no travel surcharge for coming to Knaresborough from Bradford, and you get the price before we set off, not after. See how we quote for the full breakdown.
Frequently asked questions: furniture & large item transport in Knaresborough
Can you collect from a retail park if I have already paid?
Yes. Give us the store's collection instructions, the order number and the name on the order and we will load from the goods-out door. Most collections out at St James take a few minutes. If the store needs you present, meet us there and we will take it from the bay.
My cottage is on Waterside with steps down from the road. Will you still deliver?
Yes. We park at the closest legal point, often the top of the hill, and carry from there, which is how the gorge-side streets work for everyone. Tell us the number of steps and whether anything turns sharply, and we will bring the trolley and plan the carry rather than discover it on the day.
Can you deliver on market day?
We can, but not onto the Market Place itself between half seven and three on a Wednesday. For a central address that day we come first thing before the traders set up, or shuttle from Chapel Street or Conyngham Hall. Anywhere on Aspin, Eastfield or Scriven is unaffected.
