York shopping parks to an LS24 front room

A store's own delivery arrives on its schedule, sometimes weeks away and sometimes only as far as the kerb. Collecting with the van turns that round: you buy it, the store loads it at the collection point, and it is carried into a house on Calcaria Crescent or Auster Bank View, unwrapped and set where you want it. New flat-pack stays in its boxes for you to build; beds and wardrobes you already own can be taken apart and rebuilt when they move.

Shops in town count as well. Calcaria Carpets & Furnishings and Daniel James Designs are on Commercial Street, and Vanilla Interiors is on the High Street, all on the A659 through the centre, where the van can stop only briefly. Agree a pick-up time with the shop so the piece is waiting inside the door and goes on quickly. For something unusually heavy, such as a solid oak dresser or an upright piano, with notice, mention it when you book.

Measuring up before furniture comes to Tadcaster

Send the order number and the collection point so the store has it ready
Measure the front door, the hall and the turn of the stairs against the box sizes
Clear a path to the room and decide where each piece stands
For a shop on Commercial Street or the High Street, fix a pick-up time so the stop on the A659 is short
Keep the boxes of new flat-pack together for building later
