Trade estates, a narrow bridge and a Thursday market
Collections here are genuinely easy. Thorp Arch, the Sandbeck Industrial Estate and the units on Audby Lane are laid out for lorries, so a long-wheelbase van is nobody's problem, and the A1(M) makes them quick to reach. The catch is the exits: junctions 45 and 46 are the only usable ones, and overshooting costs several miles before there is anywhere sensible to turn a loaded van round.
At the other end the town splits. Georgian stone around the Market Place and flats above the High Street shops mean stairs, a short loading window and a Thursday market that takes the obvious kerb from nine until three. The newer estates at Micklethwaite, Sandbeck and Spofforth Hill have drives, but the feeder roads curve, park both sides and finish in tight turning heads. Downsizers moving in from the surrounding villages make up a good share of the work.
What Wetherby furniture & large item transport usually involves
- Thursday market takes the Market Place and the Town Hall island from 9am to 3pm, so central drops go early or late that day
- Wetherby Bridge is a narrow scheduled ancient monument and the centre runs as a one-way loop, so once a long van commits it does the full circuit, and we plan the approach before setting off
- Town-centre car parks give two hours free between 8am and 6pm, with charges introduced at Station Gardens and The Wilderness in late 2025; Crossley Street is the handiest for a High Street carry
- Downsizing into an apartment usually leaves the old three-piece with nowhere to go, so we can take it away on the same visit, though we do not empty whole houses
- From Bradford it is the A658 to Pool-in-Wharfedale then the A659 and A58 through Harewood and Collingham, about 22 miles

Frequently asked questions: furniture & large item transport in Wetherby
Can you collect from Thorp Arch Trading Estate and deliver the same day?
Usually yes. It is a trade estate built for lorries, so loading is quick once the paperwork is right. Send us the unit and the order number. From there most Wetherby addresses are a few minutes away, so collection and delivery often happen inside the same visit.
I am downsizing into a flat on the High Street. Can you take the old sofa?
Yes. We bring the new piece up the stairs and carry the old one down on the same visit, and it leaves with us. That is item-for-item replacement though. We are not a house clearance or rubbish removal service, so we cannot empty a whole property.
Is Thursday a problem for a delivery?
Only for the Market Place itself, which the market occupies from nine until three. If your address is central we come before nine or after the traders pack up. Micklethwaite, Barleyfields, Sandbeck and the rest of the town are unaffected and can be booked at any time.
