Flats over the shops, and the downsizer's sofa
A good deal of central living space here sits above the High Street shops, reached by a single door on the street and a staircase never intended to carry furniture. There is no rear way in and nowhere to set a four-seater down while you think about it. We measure the door, take the feet and any bolt-on arms off and go up on the end - and if it genuinely will not go, we say so before you buy rather than after it is on the pavement.
The other regular job in town is downsizing. Older owners come in from the Wharfedale and Ainsty villages to a central apartment or one of the newer low-maintenance estates, and furniture that suited a village house is simply too big for the new one. Measure the new lounge door and the stair turn before you decide what to keep. We will bring the pieces that fit and take the old settee away on the same visit.
What Wetherby sofa & bed delivery usually involves
- Thursday market takes the Market Place and the Town Hall island from morning until mid-afternoon, so central deliveries get booked around it
- The centre runs as a tight one-way loop around the Shambles and Wetherby Bridge is a narrow scheduled ancient monument, so a long van commits to the full circuit rather than reversing out of a wrong turn
- Most town-centre car parks give two hours free between eight and six, Crossley Street being the handiest for the High Street, though charges came in at Station Gardens and The Wilderness in late 2025
- Micklethwaite, Sandbeck and Spofforth Hill have narrow curved feeder roads with parking both sides and very tight turning heads, so we stand on the road and barrow in rather than block a cul-de-sac
- Only junctions 45 and 46 of the A1(M) are usable for the town, so we set off with the right one in mind - overshooting costs several miles before you can turn round

- Market PlaceThursday market removes the obvious loading point for central addresses
- Micklethwaite and Sandbeckmodern estates with drives, but tight turning heads on the feeder roads
- Hallfield and Ainstypost-war semis and terraces with gardens and a normal stair turn, straightforward for a corner suite
- Thorp Arch Trading Estatecollection point for furniture bought out at the estate or from sellers on that side
- Spofforth Hillnewer housing where we park on the road and trolley in rather than block a narrow head
If your street isn't listed it's almost certainly still covered, Wetherby and the surrounding LS22 postcodes are all inside our normal working area.

What it costs
Wetherby jobs are priced on the size of the item, the stair or the turning room at the far end and the time the whole run takes, with nothing added for coming over from Bradford. There's no travel surcharge for coming to Wetherby from Bradford, and you get the price before we set off, not after. See how we quote for the full breakdown.
Frequently asked questions: sofa & bed delivery in Wetherby
Can you get a sofa up to a flat above the High Street?
Most of the time, yes. Those stairs are narrow and often turn, so we take the feet and bolt-on arms off and take it up on its end. Send a photo of the street door and the stair, and the sofa's width with the feet removed, and we will give you a straight answer before delivery day.
Do you deliver on Wetherby market day?
We do, but not into the Market Place itself. Thursday takes the Town Hall island out from morning until mid-afternoon, so for a central address we either book early, book late in the day, or work from a loading bay and carry the last bit.
We are downsizing - can you tell us whether our sofa will fit the new place?
Yes, and it is worth asking before moving day. Measure the narrowest doorway, the stair turn and the width of the sofa with its feet off, or just send photos. If a piece will not go, we would rather you knew in advance than watched us try it on the pavement.
