From a bedroom in LS24 to halls in York or Leeds
The University of York campus at Heslington is about 11 miles away by the A64 and the A19, and Leeds is about 15 miles the other way along the A64. Either is a short run, so a September move-in can leave after breakfast and be unloaded at the halls well before lunch. The load is mainly bags and boxes, with a desk chair, a lamp and perhaps a bike, and it fills only part of a van this size.
Universities further off mean a longer day. Newcastle and Durham are up the A1(M), which the town joins about three miles to the west, and the M1 heads south to Sheffield, Nottingham and beyond. If the halls give an arrival slot, send it with the booking and the van leaves Tadcaster in time to meet it. When the year ends, the same run works in reverse, bringing the room home to the estates on either bank.
Before a Tadcaster student's room goes on the van
- Send the halls' arrival slot and the block's address, not just the university's name
- Pack clothes in soft bags and books in small boxes, so each one can go up a stairwell
- Write the room number on every box; corridors in halls look alike
- Check what the halls allow before packing a toaster, kettle or mini fridge
- Book the summer return once the contract end date is known

One room, the miles and the halls: what a Tadcaster student move costs
How much is going, the miles to the university and any wait for an arrival slot set the fixed price, which is agreed before the day and includes the drive out to Tadcaster. See how we quote for the full breakdown.
Student Removals in Tadcaster: your questions
Can a parent book and pay for the move?
Yes. Give the student's name and phone number for the halls end, and the driver keeps in touch with both of you.
Will everything from one bedroom fit?
Almost always. A student's room is a small load for a van with 3.4m of floor, even with a bike and a desk chair.
Could the things go by train instead?
Not from the town: Tadcaster's station closed in 1964, and the nearest ones are Ulleskelf and Church Fenton. A full room is far simpler by road.
Can you bring everything home again in June?
Yes. Book the date as soon as the halls contract end is known, and the van brings it back to your Tadcaster address.
