Arrival slots and unloading limits on York's two campuses
The University of York gives each new student a one-hour arrival slot, and each college has its own unloading point and limit. Derwent rooms in blocks A, J, K and M unload at the Campus Central car park in 30 minutes, others at the college reception in 15, and then the vehicle moves to the Science Park long-stay car parks. On Campus East, Constantine arrivals check in at the Church Lane Building and move on within 30 minutes. So the run from home is timed back from your slot.
York St John is tighter still. There is no parking on the Lord Mayor's Walk campus apart from Blue Badge bays, vehicles at the halls may stand only while they unload, and keys come from the Holgate reception. The 2026 arrivals weekend is 19 and 20 September. In the second year the move is to a shared house in Tang Hall or The Groves, and in Badger Hill on-street parking is restricted to permit holders, so ask the landlord about the zone.

Student Removals in York: your questions
Can you move me into a University of York college on arrival day?
Yes, with a booked arrival slot. Send the slot, college and block, and the van leaves home in time to reach the right unloading point, such as Campus Central for Derwent or the Church Lane Building for Constantine.
Where does the van park at York St John?
Not on the campus, which has only Blue Badge spaces. At the halls a vehicle may stand while it unloads and then moves off, so everything comes off in one go and goes in with you.
How do I move from halls to a house in Tang Hall?
Fix the date once the landlord confirms when the keys are released. The room is loaded at the college and carried into the house, with a bed or desk taken apart if the stairs need it.
How far ahead should I book a student move in York?
As soon as your arrival slot or key date is set, because mid-September and June are the dates asked for first. A move in another month can be fitted in at much shorter notice.
