Ring a York same-day job in early, and allow for the walls
The van starts from Bradford, 42 miles away, so a same-day York job is easiest when it is asked for in the morning and there is a gap in the diary. Give the collection and delivery addresses, the size and weight and the latest time it can arrive, so the diary can be checked against it. Bulky, awkward loads are what a long Transit is for: a sofa, a set of shelving, a run of boxes that will not go in a car.
York's centre needs its own plan. Inside the walls, the footstreets are closed to vehicles from 10.30am to 5pm, so a drop to a shop or flat on Coney Street, Davygate or Goodramgate is made before or after those hours. Outside them, the A1237 ring road links Clifton Moor, Rawcliffe and Monks Cross, while the A64 heads to Leeds, the A59 to Harrogate and the A19 south to Selby.
Booking a same-day run in York
- Call as early in the day as you can; the job is taken only when the diary has room
- Give the size, weight and number of items, and whether stairs are involved at either end
- For an address inside the walls, say whether it is on a footstreet so the drop is timed around the closure
- Have the item ready, wrapped and in the hall when the van arrives
- Goods in transit cover is £10,000, so tell us if the load is worth more

Same Day Courier in York: your questions
Can you do a same-day courier job in York today?
Sometimes, when the diary allows. Ring with both addresses, the size of the item and the deadline, and the diary is checked against your timing.
Can you deliver to a shop inside York's footstreets?
Yes, outside footstreet hours. The streets inside the walls close to vehicles from 10.30am to 5pm, so the drop is made in the morning once the van arrives, from about 9am, or after 5pm.
What size of item fits in the van?
The load space is 3.4m long, 1.3m between the wheel arches and 1.7m high, enough for a sofa, a double bed, shelving or a stack of boxes.
