Two former mills are now homes: Freedoms Mill, on the site of an early flax mill and later a paper mill, and the listed Old Corn Mill, a limestone building of eleven bays. The 20th century added a council estate in the 1960s and two more estates at the south-eastern tip. The Lamb and Flag is on Boroughbridge Road.
