Scriven: what to know before moving day
Home Farm House, on The Green, is Grade II*, a late medieval timber framed house with a gritstone ground floor, and houses like Rose Cottage, Wheelwright Cottage and Pear Tree Cottage are gritstone with pantile roofs. Scriven Hall is the original hall's 1682 stables and coach house, made into a home in 1966 after a fire in 1954 led to the hall's demolition. There is no church and no school in Scriven: residents use those in Knaresborough.
Jacob Smith Park, 30 acres left to the public by Winifred Jacob Smith in 2006, sits beside the village. Newer streets include Blackthorn Avenue, Chestnut Drive, Rowan Way and Willow Place, and a group by Castle Garden Drive has flower names such as Tulip Grove, Poppy Close and Snowdrop Mews. How the van gets to Scriven
Scriven Road and Market Flat Lane are the 30 mph roads on the Knaresborough side of the village, with Greengate Lane close by. The A6055 Boroughbridge Road, 30 mph here, passes on the south-east side, and the B6165 Ripley Road on the west.
