Rawdon: what to know before moving day
The centre of the village is around Micklefield Lane and Micklefield Park, with the library close by and short streets such as John Street, James Street and George Street to the north. St Peter's Church was consecrated in 1684 and the Quaker meeting house dates from 1697. Rawdon Hall on Cliffe Lane, finished in 1625, is near the golf course on the southern side, and Benton Park School is on Harrogate Road.
Two conservation areas shape the older housing. Little London, in the west of the village, straddles the boundary between Leeds and Bradford, a leftover of Aireborough being split in 1974. Cragg Wood is a rural suburb of Victorian villas in wooded grounds built for Leeds and Bradford wool and cloth merchants. How the van gets to Rawdon
The A658 comes up from Bradford through Apperley Bridge and climbs Apperley Lane on Rawdon's western side, roughly 15 to 30 minutes from the city. The A65 crosses the village as New Road Side and Leeds Road, heading south-east to Horsforth and Leeds, and the B6152 runs through the middle as Micklefield Lane and Harrogate Road.
