Stepped front doors and a street you cannot park on
The terraces off High Street and Henshaw Lane step down the slope, and most of them have a stepped front entrance with no rear access at all. Whatever you have bought comes out of that one door and down onto a street that is narrow, steep and parked on both sides. In the hilltop core around Kirk Lane and Ivegate there is almost nowhere to hold a long wheelbase van still, so we work from a short stop and carry.
That makes two details worth getting from the seller before you pay. How many steps are there up to the door, and is there anywhere a van can pull in within sight of it? Down the Aire-facing side into Nether Yeadon and Little London the lanes are narrow with tight turns and real gradient, which is a different problem again: getting in is fine, getting a loaded van back out needs planning.
What Yeadon marketplace & ebay collection usually involves
- Nine miles from Bradford on the A658 Harrogate Road through Apperley Bridge and Rawdon, or the A6038 through Guiseley and onto the A65 New Road Side
- Both of those roads jam around airport traffic and the Rawdon junctions at school and shift-change times, so we pick the hour rather than the shortest line on the map
- Tell us the number of steps up to the seller's door and whether the staircase inside turns; on this hill that matters more than the postcode
- Larkfield, Rufford Park and the Rawdon side are interwar semis and bungalows with drives, which are the quickest collections in the area
- You can send the agreed cash with us to hand to the seller on collection, once we have checked the item matches the listing, or pay them in advance yourself
Where in Yeadon we work
- High Street and Ivegatethe narrow, steep hilltop core, where a van works off a short stop rather than a loading position
- Henshaw Lanestepped-entrance terraces with no rear access, so everything comes out the front
- Larkfield and Rufford Parkinterwar semis with drives, the easy end of Yeadon for loading
- Nether Yeadon and Little Londonnarrow lanes with tight turns dropping towards the Aire

- Leeds Bradford Airportshift workers renting nearby, which is why so much furniture changes hands here
If your street isn't listed it's almost certainly still covered, Yeadon and the surrounding LS19 postcodes are all inside our normal working area.
Common Yeadon runs
- Yeadon to Bradfordnine miles on the A658 through Apperley Bridge, a regular same-day run
- Yeadon to Guiseley or Otleya few minutes up the A65 or A6038, often a single item
- Leeds to Yeadonin via the A658 or the A65, the common direction for a city bargain
What it costs
On this hill the price is set by the carry: how far the item has to come from the door to the van, and how many steps are in between. There's no travel surcharge for coming to Yeadon from Bradford, and you get the price before we set off, not after. See how we quote for the full breakdown.
Frequently asked questions: marketplace & ebay collection in Yeadon
The seller's house is up a flight of steps. Will you still collect?
Yes, that is normal in Yeadon. Just tell us how many steps and whether they turn, so we know whether a sofa comes down on its feet or on its end and whether we need the second pair of hands. We would rather plan it than find out with the item halfway out.
Can you collect in the evening?
Yes. We work seven days a week until eight, and a lot of Yeadon sellers work airport shifts, so evenings are often the only window they have. Evening also means the High Street and New Road Side traffic has died back, which helps.
What if the item is not what the listing showed?
We check it against the listing photos before it goes in the van. If there is damage, a missing part or it is plainly the wrong size, we call you there and then so you can decide whether to go ahead. If you sent cash with us, it comes back to you, not to the seller.
