Stepped doorways on a hillside, and where the van actually stops
Gravity does most of the damage in a town like this. Before the back doors open the wheels are chocked and the handbrake tested, because an appliance trolley on a slope wants to run and seventy-odd kilos behind you on a wet flagstone is not something you recover from. High Street, Kirk Lane and Ivegate are narrow, steep and parked both sides with almost nowhere to hold a long van still, so the centre is worked off a short stop.
Not all of it is like that. Larkfield and Rufford Park are interwar semis with drives and level paths, the post-war housing around Little London mostly has a gate you can get a trolley through, and out towards Rawdon there are bungalows where the machine goes in on the flat. The lanes dropping down the Aire-facing slope into Nether Yeadon are the ones to warn us about, being narrow and tightly turned.
What Yeadon appliance delivery & removal usually involves
- Terraces off High Street and Henshaw Lane have stepped front entrances and no rear access, so everything is carried out to a van standing on a gradient
- The hilltop core is narrow and parked on both sides, which means a short stop and a barrow run rather than a proper loading position outside the door
- The A65 New Road Side and the A658 Harrogate Road both back up around airport traffic and the Rawdon junctions at school and shift-change times, so slots are set around that
- A fridge or freezer travels upright and strapped, then wants a few hours standing before it is switched on, and it should be emptied and defrosted the day before
- We can reconnect a washing machine cold feed and waste hose where the fittings are standard; anything gas has to go to a Gas Safe engineer

Common Yeadon runs
- Bradford to Yeadonnine miles on the A658 Harrogate Road through Apperley Bridge and Rawdon
- Yeadon to Guiseley or Rawdona short hop along the A65, easy to combine with a second drop
- Bradford or Leeds seller to a Yeadon terracea private-sale washer collected, checked and carried up the steps
What it costs
The gradient and the steps decide a Yeadon price, along with how far the machine travels from where the van can safely stand. There's no travel surcharge for coming to Yeadon from Bradford, and you get the price before we set off, not after. See how we quote for the full breakdown.
Frequently asked questions: appliance delivery & removal in Yeadon
There are steps up to my front door. Is that extra work?
It is the normal work here. Stepped entrances off High Street and Henshaw Lane are the standard Yeadon doorway, so we bring the trolley, straps and two pairs of hands and take the machine up one step at a time. Count the steps for us when you book and we will allow the right amount of time.
How long before I can switch the fridge freezer on?
Leave it standing upright for a few hours after we have gone, longer if it has been tilted at all on the trolley, so the compressor oil settles back where it belongs. Empty and defrost it the day before too. Our guide to preparing a washing machine or fridge for moving covers the rest.
Can you take the old cooker out at the same time?
Yes, provided it is an electric one and already isolated at the wall. We carry it out as the new one goes in and take it to a household waste recycling centre. A gas cooker has to be disconnected by a Gas Safe engineer first, then we can remove it.
