Apperley Bridge: what to know before moving day
The Tenterfields area, between the canal and Greengates, has been built up with housing since the 1990s. Valley Mills and Whitfield Mill were demolished for it, while Apperdale Mill and Oaklea Mills were converted into flats. Streets such as The Moorings, Quayside, Waterfront Mews, Slingsby Close and Brompton Drive sit near the canal basin, which is now Apperley Bridge Marina.
The older village is a scatter of buildings separated by green space, with no square or centre. Many are listed, on Apperley Lane, Apperley Road, Laburnum Place, Harrogate Road and Waterloo Crescent, and the Dog and Gun and the George and Dragon are former houses, farmhouses and barns. Parts of Rawdon, over the Leeds boundary, share the BD10 Apperley Bridge postal district, so check which council a new address falls under.
How the van gets to Apperley Bridge
The A658 is the main road: from Bradford it runs north as Harrogate Road through Eccleshill and Greengates, crosses the canal on a bridge rebuilt in 1936 and since widened, and carries on as Apperley Lane. Tenterfields leaves Harrogate Road for the canalside estate. Apperley Road, a 30 mph road, links the A658 with the A657 Leeds Road and passes The Moorings and Milman Bridge.

Because part of Rawdon, in the City of Leeds, uses the BD10 Apperley Bridge postal district. The village proper is in Bradford's Idle and Thackley ward, but the postcode alone does not say which council you pay. The move is the same either way.
Is there a station at Apperley Bridge?
Yes. A new station opened in 2015 on the line between Leeds and Shipley; the original station, across the boundary in Rawdon, closed in 1965.
