South Ossett: what to know before moving day
The landmarks on the map are Christ Church, one of Ossett's two Anglican churches, South Ossett Infant Academy near Sowood Lane, and Ossett Academy and Sixth Form College, which stands on the site of the old grammar school at Park House, off Storrs Hill, bought by the town in 1905 or 1906. Illingworth Park and Green Park add open space between the streets, and the St Ignatius church and primary school are nearby.
Sowood Lane and Station Road, both part of the B6128, and Manor Road link the residential roads, which include Fairfield Road, Barmby Crescent, Taylor Drive, Maryfield Gardens, Park Square and Greenfield Avenue. With several schools close together, loading outside the start and end of the school day is easier.
How the van gets to South Ossett
From Bradford, the M606 meets the M62 at junction 26 and the M62 meets the M1 at Lofthouse; junction 40 at Ossett puts you on the A638. From the town the B6128 runs south as Station Road and Sowood Lane into South Ossett, and on to Horbury as Horbury Road. Storrs Hill Road goes the other way, down to the river at Horbury Bridge.
