Long Distance Removals in Ossett

Ossett sits between two motorways, which is unusual for a mill town. Junction 40 of the M1 and the M62 are both close by, so a long run south or west starts properly within minutes. The obstacles here are the market days and the stone terraces, and both are easy enough to plan around.

Between the M1 and the M62, with a market in the way

Twice a week the kerb in front of the Town Hall simply disappears. The market takes over the Market Place all day on Tuesdays and Fridays, close to forty permanent traders, and the obvious loading space for anything central goes with it. For a long-distance collection that means either a Wednesday or Thursday slot, or a genuinely early start on a market morning. It is a small thing that decides whether the van leaves at eight or at eleven.

The rest is mostly kind to a big van. Parking around the Market Place and Ventnor Way is free, the newer estates in South Ossett have drives and turning room, and once loaded it is a short run to the motorway. What does not happen is the load being split: your furniture goes on one van, stays on that van, and is carried in at the other end by the same driver. No depot, no transfer, no delivery window measured in days.

What Ossett long distance & nationwide usually involves

  • Tuesday and Friday markets swallow the central spaces from half past eight, so a long-run collection from the centre either goes early or goes on another day
  • Storrs Hill Road up to South Ossett is a steep, narrow climb and a loaded LWB wants the longer way round, which we build into the time
  • The stone terraces around Gawthorpe and Dale Street have no off-street parking at all and tight right-angle junctions between the rows
  • Healey and Flushdyke drop into the valley on narrow mill lanes still used by lorries serving the working mills, so a job off those roads is timed around the traffic
  • 3.4m by 1.3m by 1.7m of load space handles a flat or a small terrace in one trip; a four-bed on the newer estates usually will not, and that is better established from photos than at the door

Where in Ossett we work

  • South Ossettthe modern estates, drives and turning space, and the easiest loading in town for a long run
  • Gawthorpecolliery-era terraced rows with no off-street parking, where the carry is the slow part of the morning
  • Dale Street and Church Streetstone weavers' and mill terraces off the Market Place, best emptied before the market sets up
  • Flushdykethe Ashley Industrial Estate and Longlands units, business relocations loaded off a yard
  • Silkwood Park and Sandbeds Trading Estatestock and equipment going out to a branch in another part of the country
  • Ossett Town Hall and the Market Placeflats over the centre, and no usable kerb at all on a Tuesday or Friday

If your street isn't listed it's almost certainly still covered, Ossett and the surrounding WF5 postcodes are all inside our normal working area.

Common Ossett runs

  • Ossett → London or the Midlandsonto the M1 at junction 40 and south, a single long day if we load early
  • Ossett → Manchester and the North WestM62 west, the shortest of the long runs we do from here
  • Bradford → Ossett → the South Westthe van comes down the M606 and M62 to Tingley, loads, and is back on the motorway quickly

What it costs

Distance, the size of the load and whether the job runs as one long day or needs an overnight are what set the price, agreed as a fixed figure first. There's no travel surcharge for coming to Ossett from Bradford, and you get the price before we set off, not after. See how we quote for the full breakdown.

Frequently asked questions: long distance & nationwide in Ossett

Is a long move cheaper from Ossett than from a valley town?

The distance to your new address is what drives the price, but the start does help. There is no slow climb out of anywhere here and the motorway is minutes away, so more of the day is spent driving and less spent getting to the driving. Either way you get one fixed figure covering the whole job.

Can you collect on a market day?

Yes, if we start early. The market takes the Market Place from half past eight on Tuesdays and Fridays, so a central collection either happens before that or we work from Ventnor Way and carry. Give us the address and the date and we will tell you which of those it is going to be.

We're relocating for work from a three-bed in South Ossett. One trip?

Possibly not, and it is worth knowing now. The van takes 3.4m by 1.3m by 1.7m, which is a flat or a small house comfortably. A three-bed with a full garage and a loft is usually more than that. Send photos and a room-by-room list and you will get a straight answer before you set a date.
