Marketplace Collection in Ossett

Ossett is a trade-up town: people move out of the stone terraces round the centre into the newer estates on the hill, and a good share of what they own goes on Marketplace first. That is where the listings come from, and we are the van that gets them from the seller's door to yours.

Market days, Storrs Hill and where the sellers actually are

Parking here is unusually kind to a long van. Free bays around the Market Place and on Ventnor Way, more free and paid space nearby, and enough room to load without a running argument about it. Tuesday and Friday are the exceptions: the market fills the Market Place from half past eight, close to forty traders deep, and the obvious kerb in front of the Town Hall goes with it. Wednesday and Thursday are the easy days.

The two halves of the town collect quite differently. Stone terraces around Gawthorpe, Dale Street and Church Street have no off-street parking and tight right-angle junctions between the rows, so it is a carry. Up on the hill, South Ossett is modern estate housing with drives, and the newer the estate the quicker the load. Storrs Hill Road is the direct climb between them, and a loaded van is better off going the long way.

What Ossett marketplace & ebay collection usually involves

  • Twelve miles from Bradford: M606 to the M62, off at junction 28 at Tingley, then the A653 and Leeds Road down into town
  • Avoid a Market Place collection on Tuesday and Friday if you can, or let us start before half past eight when the stalls go up
  • Healey and Flushdyke drop into the Calder valley on narrow mill lanes still used by lorries serving working mills, so timing matters more than distance there
  • Send the agreed cash with us and we hand it to the seller once the item has been checked, or pay them in advance if you would rather
  • The South Ossett new-builds have drives but narrow feeder roads, so give us the house number rather than just the street name

Where in Ossett we work

  • Gawthorpe and Dale Streetstone terraces with no off-street parking and tight junctions between the rows
  • South Ossettmodern estates where the trade-up buyers are, and where most of the bulky listings end up going
  • Market Place and the Town Hallcentral flats and shops, with Tuesday and Friday markets taking the kerb space
  • Healey and Flushdykemill lanes into the Calder valley, shared with working lorry traffic all day
  • Sandbeds Trading Estate and Silkwood Parkbusiness listings and ex-office furniture collected off a loading door
  • Runtlings and Ossett Spaolder residential streets, ordinary kerbside collections on a non-market day

If your street isn't listed it's almost certainly still covered, Ossett and the surrounding WF5 postcodes are all inside our normal working area.

Frequently asked questions: marketplace & ebay collection in Ossett

Is Ossett an easy place to collect from?

Easier than most towns we cover, because the free parking around the Market Place and Ventnor Way gives a long van somewhere to stand. Tuesday and Friday market days are the exception, when close to forty stalls take the central space. Pick another day, or an early start, and it is straightforward.

The seller is at the top of Storrs Hill Road. Does that matter?

Only to the route. It is a steep, narrow climb and with a full load we would rather take the longer way round than sit halfway up it. It does not change what you pay, because the price is agreed before we set off and covers the whole job, not the gradient.

Can you collect from a business selling off furniture?

Yes. A fair few of our jobs here come off the Sandbeds, Silkwood or Ashley estates, where the item is loaded from a unit door rather than carried out of a front room. Tell us if there is a goods-in procedure or a booking-in time and we will work to it.
