Market days, Storrs Hill and the stone-terrace turn
The market fills the Market Place all day Tuesday and Friday with close to forty permanent traders, which takes the obvious kerb space in front of the Town Hall out of use. Any other day, free parking around the Market Place and Ventnor Way makes this genuinely van-friendly. The real constraint is the stone weavers' and mill terraces off Dale Street and Church Street: no off-street parking anywhere, and tight right-angle junctions between the rows that a long van has to line up for.
Most local moves are short hops - people trading up out of those terraces into the newer estates in South Ossett - so we see both ends of the same sofa's life. South Ossett sits on the hill above town and Storrs Hill Road is a steep, narrow climb that a loaded long wheelbase would rather go round than up. With a corner suite on board we take the longer way and still arrive when we said we would.
What Ossett sofa & bed delivery usually involves
- Tuesday and Friday markets swallow the central spaces from morning until late afternoon, so a midweek or early slot makes a town-centre drop far simpler
- Free parking around the Market Place and Ventnor Way, with more bays and accessible spaces behind Iceland, is unusually generous for a van
- Storrs Hill Road up to South Ossett is steep and narrow, so with a full load we route around it rather than crawl up it
- Healey and Flushdyke drop into the Calder valley on narrow mill lanes still worked by lorries serving Ings Mill and Burmatex, so timing matters for anything down there
- Old sofa, divan or mattress out and away on the same visit as the new one arrives - one booking instead of two, though we do not clear whole properties

What it costs
What drives an Ossett price is the size of the item, whether the day is a market day and how far the van has to stand from your door, never the mileage. There's no travel surcharge for coming to Ossett from Bradford, and you get the price before we set off, not after. See how we quote for the full breakdown.
Frequently asked questions: sofa & bed delivery in Ossett
Can you deliver a sofa on Ossett market day?
Yes, but not to a Market Place address without a plan. Tuesday and Friday run from early morning to late afternoon and take the central kerb space, so we either come first thing before the traders are set up, or work from a nearby free bay and carry the last stretch.
Will a solid divan base go up a Dale Street terrace staircase?
Often not. Those stone terraces have narrow stairs with a turn, and a one-piece platform base has no give in it at all. Order the base in two halves when you buy and it goes up without trouble. The mattress is fine - it flexes enough at the corners to come up on its edge.
What happens to our old three-seater?
It can leave with us on the same visit. We carry the old one out first, bring the new one in and take the old one away, so you are not living with two sofas for a fortnight. Just tell us when you book. We are not a rubbish-removal service, so it is the replaced item only.
