Collingham: what to know before moving day
Which road you live off tells you a lot about the house. Wetherby Road has the oldest housing in the village; Harewood Road is generally late 20th century, with some large detached houses; Leeds Road is a mix of one-off houses and developments; and Bryant Homes built the last sizeable scheme, along Linton Road. Much of the old centre was cleared in the 1960s and 1970s, and most of the shops are now in Hastings Court and Elizabeth Court, with the post office in a parade beside them.
Collingham Beck runs through the village to the Wharfe and rises quickly. In 2007 it flooded Millbeck Green and the A58 Leeds Road. The listed Collingham Bridge takes the A659 over the beck towards Harewood, and Lady Elizabeth Hastings primary school is off Harewood Road opposite the cricket pitch. St Oswald's is the parish church, and the parish council covers Collingham and Linton together.
How the van gets to Collingham
Collingham is on the direct line from Bradford: the A658 to Pool-in-Wharfedale, then the A659 through Harewood, arriving along Harewood Road. The other way is round the Leeds outer ring road and out on the A58 through Scarcroft and Bardsey, which comes in as Leeds Road and leaves for Wetherby as Wetherby Road. Either takes roughly 35 to 50 minutes from Bradford. To the north, Linton Road crosses the Wharfe on Linton Bridge.

Why is Collingham in Harewood ward when its postcode says Wetherby?
Ward and postcode follow different lines. Collingham shares the LS22 postcode district with Wetherby, but for Leeds City Council it is in Harewood ward. Bins and council tax go through Leeds either way.
Was Linton Bridge closed after the floods?
Yes. The Boxing Day 2015 flood damaged it, and the Grade II listed bridge was shut to all traffic until September 2017. It is open again and is the direct link between Collingham and Linton.
