Linton: what to know before moving day
The village sits on the side of the valley. Main Street runs through the middle past the Windmill Inn, and the lanes off it include Northgate Lane, Muddy Lane, Tibgarth, College Farm Lane and Trip Lane. There is no shop or school and no longer a place of worship; the Memorial Hall of 1947, with its own car park and tennis courts, is the one public building. Wood Hall Hotel and Spa is on the outskirts.
Houses here come in layers. The manor house dates from about 1650, though much altered, and the old school of about 1859 is now a dwelling. In the 1920s the architect William Alban Jones built several Arts and Crafts houses round the old centre. Wetherby Golf Club has its course on Linton Ings, by the river. How the van gets to Linton
There are two ways in. From the south, the van comes through Collingham on the A659 or the A58 and crosses Linton Bridge on Linton Road; it is the route from Bradford via Pool-in-Wharfedale and Harewood, roughly 40 to 50 minutes. From Wetherby, Linton Lane runs south-west out of the town straight into the village, which is the easier way for a job that starts in Wetherby.
