Cattal: what to know before moving day
The houses are along Cattal Street, which runs north through the village, and Chapel Street, with Cattal Moor Lane and Ox Moor Lane heading south-west. The village pub, The Victoria, is close to the station.
The station is the thing to plan around. The level crossing still has manually operated metal gates and a ground-level signal box, and trains run half-hourly to Leeds and York. There is no station car park; people park along the road. If your address is near the crossing, tell us which side of the line you are on so the van waits on the right side.
The road south crosses the Nidd on Cattal Bridge, a Grade II listed bridge. The Roman road known as Rudgate ran through here, and the lane north from Cattal still follows its line. The station itself is inside Kirk Hammerton parish.
How the van gets to Cattal
From Wetherby, the A168 runs north alongside the A1(M), which meets the A59 at junction 47. The A59 passes just north of Cattal, and Cattal Street is the village's road north towards it. From the south, the Tadcaster road comes in over Cattal Bridge.
