Hunsingore: what to know before moving day
Church Hill and Back Lane are the old part of the village, around St John the Baptist's, a High Victorian Gothic church of 1868 with an unusual covered gateway into the churchyard. Ox Moor Lane runs through towards Cattal, and on the west side there are newer closes such as Orchard Grove and Oxmoor Meadows. The village hall is here too.
Down by the weir, the Old Corn Mill was a water-powered mill and has been converted into housing. The village school closed because of low numbers; children from Cowthorpe used to cross the Nidd by a footbridge to reach it. The astronomer John Goodricke is buried at Hunsingore, and his family's house, New House, is thought to have been destroyed after Marston Moor.
How the van gets to Hunsingore
Coming from Wetherby, the A168 runs beside the A1(M). At Great Ribston with Walshford there is a roundabout, and on the eastern side of the motorway a roundabout for Hunsingore. From there Moor Lane and Ox Moor Lane lead into the village. The A59 passes just north of Cattal if the other address is towards York or Harrogate.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 50 to 60 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Hunsingore: questions before you book
Can the van come off the A1(M) straight into Hunsingore?
No. The motorway bounds the village to the west, but access is from the A168, taking it to the next junction in either direction and coming in via the Hunsingore roundabout near Walshford.
Is there a bus or train if I travel separately from the van?
The nearest station is Cattal, about 2.5 miles by road. The village bus is a demand-responsive service to Wetherby that has to be booked in advance.
