Brookfoot: what to know before moving day
Near the river and canal is Brookfoot Lake, three and a half acres, owned by the Brighouse Angling Association. Brookfoot Lock was built on a new cut dug between 1805 and 1808, and the towpath is part of the Calder Valley Greenway. Brookfoot Business Park, Brookfoot Mills and Marshalls' Brookfoot Works all sit beside the road.
The houses nearest the centre are on Brighouse Wood Lane and Brighouse Wood Row, which lead off Elland Road, and the Rydings streets are about 400 metres towards Brighouse. The Red Rooster pub is on Elland Road itself. Cromwell Bottom Local Nature Reserve lies to the south-west towards Elland, with Freeman's Wood beside the road.
How the van gets to Brookfoot
The A6025, Elland Road, is the through road, east into Brighouse and west towards Elland. Brookfoot Lane and South Holme Lane leave it here, and Brighouse Wood Lane connects up to Halifax Road, the A644. From Bradford the van reaches Brighouse on the A641 and follows Elland Road out along the valley, roughly 20 to 35 minutes in all.
