Adel: what to know before moving day
The A660, Otley Road, runs up the western side of Adel with the post office on it, while the church and the two primary schools are well to the east. Church Lane leaves Otley Road for the Church of St John the Baptist, a Grade I listed Norman church built around 1150 to 1170 and little altered since. Nearby are York Gate, an old farmhouse with a garden opened to the public on set days, and Adel Memorial Hall of 1928 with its sports ground.
Holt Lane, Sadler Way and the Holt streets lie between Otley Road and the church, and Long Causeway and Stairfoot Lane meet near the Bedquilts playing fields. Adel Dam nature reserve, the Meanwood Valley Trail and Adel Crag give the area its countryside side. Leeds University's former Bodington Hall is just to the west. For a house on one of the rural lanes, send a note of where a long van can pull in.
How the van gets to Adel
The A660 crosses the Leeds outer ring road, the A6120, at Lawnswood, then passes the western part of Adel on its way to Bramhope and Otley. So from Bradford the van comes round the ring road to Lawnswood and turns north on Otley Road, roughly 20 to 35 minutes, with Church Lane or Holt Lane leading off it into Adel.
