Runtlings: what to know before moving day
The Dewsbury to Ossett Greenway, a walking and cycling path on an old railway line, runs past Runtlings, and the map still marks Runtlings Lane Junction on the former tracks. Ossett's first line was extended from Flushdyke into the town in 1864 and then on to Dewsbury and Batley. Homes are on Runtlings, Runtlings Lane and Runtlings Terrace, and on Silverwood Grange, Calder View and Calder Close, with the Headlands roads and West Wells Road towards the centre.
Open land is close on the west: farmland at Skelman Royd and Oldroyd Hill, then the Mitchell Laithes water treatment works by the river. Ossett Cricket and Athletic Club and the Ossett Albion pitch are nearby, and the police station, Lidl and the Ventnor Way car park are a short way east.
How the van gets to Runtlings
Runtlings Lane leaves the western side of Ossett near Headlands Road and Pildacre Lane. From Bradford, take the M606 to the M62 at junction 26 and head east to the M1, then junction 40 on the A638 for Ossett. In town, Kingsway (the B6128) and Queen Street lead west towards Runtlings.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 30 to 45 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.
