Kirk Deighton: what to know before moving day
Main Street has buildings from the 16th to the 19th century, and the B6164 runs along it. All Saints' Church, mostly 12th to 14th century and built of limestone, is Grade I listed, and Kirk Deighton Hall, a late 18th-century former rectory, stands off Mark Lane. There are 20th-century council houses on Wetherby Road and private houses on Ashdale Lane. The Bay Horse, once two pubs, is in the middle of the village, and a new village hall opened in 2013.
The houses of north-east Wetherby are right next door, in the Ainsty and Badgerwood areas, with roads such as Ainsty Road and Badger Wood Glade, and residents there use Kirk Deighton's amenities. Off Lime Kiln Lane is a Site of Special Scientific Interest for great crested newts, not open to the public. The village school closed in 1991, and children here often go to school in Spofforth or Knaresborough.
How the van gets to Kirk Deighton
Wetherby Services sits at junction 46 of the A1(M), where the motorway meets the B1224, and the B6164 comes out of Wetherby as Deighton Road and runs north through the village as Main Street towards Knaresborough. From Bradford, the A58 runs through Leeds to Wetherby. Mark Lane and Lime Kiln Lane are the smaller roads in the village.
