Killinghall: what to know before moving day
The A61 cuts the village in two, and the B6161 Otley Road ends at a junction with it in the centre. Homes on side streets such as Castle Road, Manor Road, Cautley Drive, Crofters Green and Westfield Grange are simpler to load than those facing the A61; if yours fronts Ripon Road, say so when you book. The Methodist church, on a site used for a chapel since 1792, is on Ripon Road itself. The primary school, St Thomas the Apostle church, village hall and cricket ground are all in the village.
The older houses are gritstone. Kennel Hall Farmhouse, probably early 17th century, and Low Hall, dated 1701 and enlarged in 1750, are listed, as is a late 18th-century terrace of three cottages beside Low Hall. Stone from the Killinghall quarries went into many Harrogate buildings. Grainbeck Lane, which OpenStreetMap marks with a 7.5-tonne limit, leads off Ripon Road on the Harrogate side.
How the van gets to Killinghall
Killinghall is on the A61 between Harrogate and Ripon, so the van simply follows Ripon Road north out of Harrogate. The B6161 from Pool-in-Wharfedale, called Otley Road here, is the other way in and ends in the middle of the village. The Leeds, Harrogate and Ripon bus, route 36, stops in Killinghall.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 40 to 55 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Which Killinghall bridge does the van cross?
The 1950s road bridge. The Nidd is crossed by two bridges side by side: the newer one takes the A61 traffic towards Ripley, and the old 17th-century bridge, Grade II listed, carries a small loop road that the Nidderdale Greenway joins.
Has Killinghall got a bypass?
No. A bypass has long been discussed, but when these sources were checked the A61 still ran through the village, so allow for Ripon Road traffic when choosing a loading time.
