Cragg Vale: what to know before moving day
The road is the story. The B6138 began as the Mytholmroyd Bridge and Blackstone Edge turnpike of 1815, running from County Bridge in Mytholmroyd up Cragg Road to meet the Halifax to Rochdale road over Blackstone Edge. It is often described as the longest continuous gradient in England, rising 968 feet over 5.5 miles, and the 2014 Tour de France came up it.
