Cowcliffe: what to know before moving day
Cowcliffe Hill Road was once the main coach road from London to Gretna Green, and the area still hangs on it. Along and near it are St Hilda's Church, Cowcliffe Methodist Church, the Shepherds Arms, the Cowcliffe and Netheroyd Hill Liberal Club with its bowling green, a shop and the park. At the top of North Cross Road a large house known locally as the Castle was restored from dereliction in the mid-1980s, with a small estate built on its former gardens.
On the west side is Huddersfield Golf Club, whose clubhouse is the Grade II listed Fixby Hall, and the streets on that side include Gleneagles Way, Troon Drive, Sunningdale Croft and Formby Avenue. How the van gets to Cowcliffe
Cowcliffe Hill Road climbs north from Halifax Old Road to meet Netheroyd Hill Road at the top, and Netheroyd Hill Road runs east to the A641 Bradford Road. That makes the A641 the natural way in from the Bradford side: turn off at Netheroyd Hill Road instead of going down into the town centre.
