Steps up from the lane, and nowhere to turn a long van round
Weavers' cottages and long stone terraces sit above the road right across Paddock, Golcar, Crosland Moor and Milnsbridge, reached by narrow setted lanes with blind bends and no turning space for a three-and-a-half-metre load. We plan the approach and the way back out before the day rather than discovering it with a cooker on board, and where a lane is genuinely too tight we stop at the nearest sensible point and barrow the rest.
The town centre has its own catch. Both the Albion Street and bus station multi-storeys have height barriers that a long-wheelbase Transit will not clear, so a centre address means an on-street loading bay or a surface car park and a walk. Out at Edgerton and Birkby the opposite problem applies: the villas are grand, but the gateposts and gravel drives are tight, so we park on Edgerton Road or Blacker Road and walk it in.
What Huddersfield appliance delivery & removal usually involves
- Tell us the step count and whether the doorway is straight on or at a right angle to the steps, because it decides whether an appliance goes up on the trolley or on its back edge
- Height barriers rule the multi-storeys out for us, so centre deliveries run off a loading bay and need a realistic window
- Purpose-built student blocks near Queensgate have barrier-controlled service yards that must be booked, and both June and September get tight
- Kirklees permit schemes cover a lot of the streets around Springwood, Greenhead Park and the university, so a permit or a loading bay is needed just to stand there while we unload
- Machines travel upright and strapped to the van wall, never flat on the floor, however short the run down the A62
Where in Huddersfield we work
- Paddock and Milnsbridgehillside terraces with steps to the door and setted lanes below them
- Golcar and Crosland Moornarrow climbs where the van stops short and the machine is barrowed the rest
- Edgerton and Birkbymillowners' villas behind tight gateposts, so we carry in from the road
- Lindley and Salendine Nookfamily semis with drives, where a fridge freezer goes straight from tailgate to kitchen
- Queensgate student blockslandlord and block deliveries into booked service yards
- Leeds Road trade units and St Andrew's Courtcollection points for new and ex-display machines
If your street isn't listed it's almost certainly still covered, Huddersfield and the surrounding HD1-HD5, HD7-HD8 postcodes are all inside our normal working area.

What it costs
The steps, the lane width and how far the van has to stop from the door drive the price for appliance delivery in Huddersfield, not the distance from Bradford. There's no travel surcharge for coming to Huddersfield from Bradford, and you get the price before we set off, not after. See how we quote for the full breakdown.
Frequently asked questions: appliance delivery & removal in Huddersfield
Will an American fridge freezer fit through a weavers' cottage door?
Usually, once the fridge doors come off, which we can do and refit inside. Measure the narrowest point, which is often the hall turn rather than the front door, and send us that plus the model's width. We would rather tell you no in advance than carry it up the steps twice.
Do you remove and recycle the machine I am replacing?
Yes, as long as you say so when you book. It leaves with us on the same visit and goes to a household waste recycling centre, which on the Paddock and Golcar hillsides saves carrying it back down the steps twice. It can equally go to the garage, the yard or another address.
Can you deliver to a student flat near the university in September?
Yes, though the service yards around Queensgate get booked solid in the changeover weeks. Give us the block, the yard access arrangements and a couple of possible days and we will fit it round the crush rather than turn up and queue.
