Ainley Top: what to know before moving day
Ainley Top is shaped by its roads. The M62 passes to the north, and the Ainley Top roundabout, just south of the village, joins the A629 and the A643 and gives access to junction 24. The stretch of the M62 from Outlane to Ainley Top opened on 20 December 1972. The A629 carries several names here, Halifax Road, Calderdale Way and Blackley New Road, and the A643 runs west as Lindley Moor Road and New Hey Road.
The houses on the Kirklees side sit between the roundabout and Birchencliffe, on streets such as Grimescar Road, Birchencliffe Hill Road, Yew Tree Road, Briarlyn Road and Birchington Avenue. St Philip the Apostle church and St Philip's Community Centre are nearby, as is the Nags Head Inn, and Grimescar Woods and Ainley Long Wood are close by. Give a street name rather than just saying Ainley Top, because the name also covers the roundabout.
How the van gets to Ainley Top
From Bradford, take the M606 south to the Chain Bar interchange, junction 26 of the M62, then follow the M62 west to junction 24 at Ainley Top. From the roundabout, the A629 Halifax Road and Birchencliffe Hill Road lead to the housing, and Grimescar Road and Yew Tree Road serve the streets beyond.
