The bridge, the climb, and the gap between two tenancies
Summer is the awkward season for anyone renting. One tenancy ends in June, the next does not begin until September, and in between a room's worth of belongings has to live somewhere. We do not run a store, so the unit is yours to book, but we will do both halves of the run: everything out of the house and into storage in June, then out again and up to the new address in September, priced as two ordinary van jobs.
Elland itself is flat where the terraces are and steep everywhere else. The centre sits on level ground between Southgate and the river, then it climbs hard to Upper Edge, Lower Edge and along Saddleworth Road towards Greetland and Stainland, with blind bends and few passing places. Elland Bridge over the Calder is the pinch point coming in from the Brighouse side, and a market-day afternoon is the worst time to bring a van through it.

- Southgate, Westgate and Briggate are narrow with limited-waiting bays, so unloading is either a short timed window or a carry from a side street

No. The Brooksbank School covers secondary and sixth form, and anyone going further travels to Kirklees College and the University of Huddersfield through Junction 24, or to Calderdale College in Halifax. None of it is residential, so our student work here is the run out in September and the run home in June.
Can you take my things to storage in June and bring them back in September?
Yes, and it is a common job here. You book the unit, we do the moving: load the house, drop at the unit, then collect and deliver to the new address when term starts. Each leg is a separate booking with its own fixed price agreed before we start.
How does a loaded van get up to Stainland?
Slowly and by the planned route. Saddleworth Road and the quarry lanes above it are steep, walled and short on passing places, so we go up with the load low and strapped, and we work out where the van turns before committing to a lane. Tell us the address and we will have looked at it beforehand.
