Lowfields and Heathfield on the flat, everything else uphill
Lowfields Business Park on Lacy Way, Heathfield Industrial Estate, Rosemount, Gannex Park on the old Gannex factory site and Burley Business Centre are all proper commercial addresses with yards and loading doors. Lowfields is the best known, being home to Suma Wholefoods, and it sets the tone for the area: units designed around vehicles. For a van driver this is the good half of Elland, and the M62 at Junction 24 puts it within easy reach.
Elland Bridge is the pinch point everything funnels through. The Grade II listed crossing over the Calder and the Calder and Hebble Navigation was destroyed in the Boxing Day 2015 floods and took until 2017 to rebuild, and it is still the way into town. Beyond it, Southgate, Westgate and Briggate are narrow with limited-waiting bays, so a shop delivery means blocking a lane briefly or carrying from further back.
