Clint sits on the bank above the river, and its houses are spread along Clint Bank Lane with Station Lane and Hollybank Lane leading off. OpenStreetMap marks a 7.5-tonne weight limit on Clint Bank Lane and Hollybank Lane. The old bridge down Church Lane to Hampsthwaite, built in 1640, has a 6ft 6in width limit, so it is not the van's way across the river.
How the van gets to Clint
From the B6165 at Burnt Yates, Clint Bank drops south to meet Clint Bank Lane. From Ripley, Hollybank Lane runs west over Ripley Beck, by the castle's Tower Bridge, to Clint, and the Nidderdale Greenway extension follows the same direction for walkers and cyclists. From Harrogate the van takes the A61 to Ripley, then the B6165 or Hollybank Lane.
