Bramley: what to know before moving day
The medieval village grew in a line along Town Street, and Stocks Hill, where a pump and stone trough mark the old green, is still its heart. Much of the centre was rebuilt in the 1960s and 1970s: Bramley Shopping Centre, with Bramley bus station inside it, replaced the old village centre. What survived is largely inside the Bramley Town Conservation Area, running from Bramley Park across to Hough Lane.
Bramley Baths, an Edwardian bathhouse from 1904 and Grade II listed, is easy to spot by the old foundry chimney beside it, and the four houses of about 1803 next door are among the oldest homes you could be moving into. The estates with their own residents' associations include Moorside and Ganners, Landseer, Rossefield, and Newlay and Whitecote, so a street name like Rossefield Grove or Henley Crescent tells a driver roughly which side of Town Street to aim for. Upper and Lower Town Street carry the A657, so book a loading spot in a side street if you live on the main road.
How the van gets to Bramley
The A647 Stanningley Bypass runs along the southern edge of Bramley, which is the quick way in from Bradford. The Leeds outer ring road, the A6110 (Ring Road Bramley), crosses the district north to south, and the A657 follows Town Street, Whitecote Hill and Henconner Lane. Bramley station is off Stanningley Road on the Leeds to Bradford line, between Leeds and New Pudsey.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 15 to 30 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Bramley: questions before you book
When did Bramley stop being a parish of its own?
In 1904. Bramley was a township and chapelry in the parish of Leeds, became a civil parish in 1866, and on 26 March 1904 was joined with Armley. Today it is the Bramley and Stanningley ward of Leeds City Council, with no parish council.
Why does the middle of Bramley look so modern?
Because it was rebuilt. Bramley Shopping Centre was the second purpose-built town centre in Leeds after Seacroft, put up in place of the old shops and cottages, and English Heritage called the scheme one of the least sensitive redevelopments in Yorkshire. The older streets are around Bramley Park and Hough Lane.
