Packing Service in Pudsey

A stone back-to-back off Town Street has one front door, one staircase and two turns in it. That shapes how we pack: more boxes, smaller boxes, none of them too heavy to bring down one-handed. We supply all the materials, work through the house room by room and label every box before the van arrives.

Packing for the staircase, not the floorplan

The terraces and back-to-backs around Lowtown, Farsley Town Street and Stanningley were built for people, not for removal loads. The staircase is narrow, it turns, and there is no rear access to fall back on, so every box comes down that one flight and out onto the pavement. A handful of enormous boxes packed with books is exactly the wrong answer. Small, full, taped boxes a single person can carry are the right one.

Newer housing here has the opposite problem: plenty of storage and no urgency about it. The 1930s semis off the Bypass side roads, the post-war houses at Swinnow and Troydale and the apartments in the converted mills at Sunny Bank all have lofts, garages or store cupboards, and that is where packing overruns. We would rather box the loft the day before than have you up a ladder at eight in the morning with the van already on the street.

What Pudsey packing service usually involves

  • Back-to-backs at Lowtown and off Farsley Town Street have no rear access, so box size is set by the staircase turn and the front door
  • Robin Lane and the streets round the market are tight and heavily parked, so boxes get carried, and half-full open boxes do not survive a carry
  • Town Street in Farsley has time-limited bays and double yellows, so packing day and moving day are planned as two separate visits
  • Lofts, sheds and garages at the Swinnow and Troydale semis are booked in as their own part of the pack
  • Kitchen-only or fragile-only packs work well if you would rather do the books, clothes and bedding yourself

Where in Pudsey we work

  • Lowtownstone back-to-backs where box size is decided by the staircase turn, not by what fits in the van
  • Town Street, Farsleyterraces with no rear access and time-limited bays outside, so everything is boxed for a carry
  • Sunny Bank Millsmill apartments with communal stairs, where the load has to break into trolley-sized lots
  • Calverley and Fulnecklarger period houses on steep lanes down the valley side, usually a full day of packing
  • Swinnow and Troydalepost-war semis where the loft, the shed and the garage are the parts that overrun
  • Stanningleystone terraces near the Bypass, handy for an early start before the junctions back up

If your street isn't listed it's almost certainly still covered, Pudsey and the surrounding LS28 postcodes are all inside our normal working area.

Common Pudsey runs

  • Pudsey → Bradfordfive miles on the A647, so packing one day and moving the next adds nothing in travel
  • Leeds flat → Farsley terracethe standard first-house move here, small enough to pack the same morning
  • Pudsey → Calverley or Stanningleyshort hop, one packed load if the loft has been dealt with in advance

What it costs

The price follows how many rooms you want packed and how much of it needs individual wrapping, not the five miles from Bradford. There's no travel surcharge for coming to Pudsey from Bradford, and you get the price before we set off, not after. See how we quote for the full breakdown.

Frequently asked questions: packing service in Pudsey

Do you pack the day before or on moving day?

For a two- or three-bed Pudsey terrace, the day before. You sleep in a packed house and moving day is purely carrying and driving, which matters on streets like Robin Lane where the van cannot sit around waiting. For a one-bed flat we can pack and move on the same morning.

Can I pack some of it myself?

Yes, and most people do. Books, clothes and bedding are easy to do in your own time. Leave us the kitchen, the glassware, the pictures and the loft, because those take longest and break most. We bring materials for the whole house either way, so you will not run out the night before.

Will the boxes fit down a back-to-back staircase?

That is why we pack the way we do. Heavy things go in small double-walled boxes, light bulky things in large ones, and nothing is filled past a one-person lift on a turning flight. If your staircase is unusually tight, send a photo when you enquire and we will plan the box sizes around it.
