Weeton: what to know before moving day
Weeton has no pub, shop or post office, and most people living here commute to Leeds or Bradford. The village is built around St Barnabas' Church, designed by George Gilbert Scott, funded by the Earl of Harewood and finished in 1852 in gritstone with a Westmorland slate roof. It is Grade II* listed, and the Old Vicarage nearby, with its stables and coach house of about 1855, is listed Grade II. Main Street and Brook Lane are the village's own roads.
Two listed stones show how old the routes past Weeton are. A gritstone signpost of 1743, carved with pointing hands, gives the way to Bradford on its east face, and a 19th-century milepost stands on the west side of the A658. South-east of the village, just over the boundary in Kirkby Overblow parish, Rougemont Castle is the earthwork of a ringwork castle where Weeton Beck meets the Wharfe.
How the van gets to Weeton
Wescoe Hill Lane comes in from the west and becomes Main Street, which carries on as Weeton Lane towards Kirkby Overblow. Woodgate Lane links the village with Huby to the north-west. Down in the valley to the south, the A659 runs as Arthington Lane and Otley Road at the national speed limit. From Bradford, one way is the A658 out through Pool towards Huby.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 30 to 45 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Weeton station, which is actually in Huby about a mile north-west, on the Harrogate Line between Leeds and Harrogate. It is unstaffed and not step-free, so it is not much help for carrying anything bulky.
