Market days, and the flat above the shop on Kirkgate

The old core around Kirkgate, Bondgate and Boroughgate is narrow, tightly junctioned and parked on both sides, and a lot of the flats there are reached by one door beside a shop front and one staircase straight up. That staircase was never designed for furniture. It is usually steep, often boxed in on both sides, and it lands on a door that opens the wrong way. We plan those jobs around the door, not the van.

Then there is the market. Stalls take Market Place and Kirkgate on Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays, and on Friday and Saturday they run right up Kirkgate to the parish church, which removes town-centre loading access for the day. If your flat is on that stretch, the honest answer is to book a non-market weekday and start early. If the date will not move, we work from the nearest legal stop and carry, and we tell you that before you book rather than on the morning.

We can, but not easily from a town-centre address. On Tuesdays, Fridays and Saturdays the stalls take Market Place and lower Kirkgate, so the van has to sit further out and everything is carried. If your flat is on that stretch, a weekday start of the day is much quicker and cheaper.

The staircase up to my flat is steep and boxed in. Will the sofa fit?
