Nesfield: what to know before moving day
The houses are gritstone with stone slate roofs. Nesfield Manor House is dated 1662, and in its grounds stand an 18th-century set of stocks and a cast iron pump of 1843, all listed; High Austby Cottage to the east is mid-17th century. The village is small, with Mill Fold, Smithy Greaves, The Orchard and Holme Ings off the street, and Low Mill Lane heading down towards the river.
West of the village, on ground that falls away on every side, is Castleberg, thought to be an Iron Age or Roman fortified site, with Castleberg Scar marked on the map. A suspension bridge of 1896 links Nesfield via West Hall to Addingham on the south bank; the van's route comes round through Ilkley instead.
How the van gets to Nesfield
From Ilkley the route data crosses the Wharfe and follows Denton Road and Nesfield Road west along the north side of the valley, then Common Holme Lane, Brant Bank Lane and Gill Lane to West Hall Lane. Gill Lane and West Hall Lane are national speed limit lanes; Old Lane in the village is 30 mph.

Why is Nesfield in North Yorkshire when Ilkley is West Yorkshire?
Since the 1974 boundary changes the Wharfe has separated the two counties here. Nesfield was in the West Riding before that, then in the Borough of Harrogate, and is now run by North Yorkshire Council.
