Sofas through narrow Ilkley hallways and beds up villa stairs

A three-seater is usually around 90cm deep, and that depth, not the length, decides whether it goes round a corner. In a stone terrace the tight spot is the turn from the hall into the front room. In a villa it is the half-landing. Taking the legs off buys a few centimetres, and some sofas have arms that unbolt. If it really will not go, you are told before the day, not after an hour on the stairs.

Beds are simpler to plan. Frames come apart and are rebuilt in the room, with the fixings kept together. Mattresses travel flat or on their side and are never folded, which matters for pocket-sprung and memory-foam types. A king-size mattress goes up most stairs on its side. A solid headboard or a one-piece divan base is the thing to measure, since those do not come apart.

Checking the way in before a sofa comes to Ilkley

Measure the sofa's depth and height and the narrowest doorway or turn on the way in
In the stone terraces near the station the tight spot is the hall-to-front-room turn, so measure that doorway as well as the front door
Pocket-sprung and memory-foam mattresses stay unfolded from the van to the bedroom
Above the shops in the centre, the van stops in a pay and display bay near the door while the sofa goes up
The old sofa can be moved to another room or the kerb for a Bradford Council bulky collection, but it does not leave in the van

Sofa & Bed Delivery in Ilkley: your questions

Will a corner sofa fit in the van?

Yes. A standard corner suite in its sections fits in one load. Very large modular sofas should be measured first, so send the dimensions.

Can you carry a sofa up to a top-floor flat?

Yes, where the stairwell allows it. The floor number, any lift and the width at the narrowest turn are what to send, and the carry is worked out before the van comes.

Will you take my old sofa away?

No, the van does not carry anything old away. It can be moved into another room or out to the front for Bradford Council's bulky waste collection, which you book with them.

Can a bed be delivered and put up the same day?

An existing bed taken apart for the move is rebuilt in the room on arrival. A new bed still in its flat-pack boxes is carried up to the room for you or the retailer to build.
