Lindley (Huddersfield): what to know before moving day
The clock tower at the junction of Lidget Street and Daisy Lea Lane is Lindley's most prominent landmark. It was designed by Edgar Wood in 1900, put up in 1902, and is listed Grade II*; Lindley Liberal Club, from 1887-88, stands beside it. St Stephen's Church of 1829 is on Plover Road. Edgar Wood also designed Norman Terrace (1898) and the Arts and Crafts house Briarcourt, both listed, and Lindley has a good number of listed stone cottages on Acre Street, Temple Street and East Street.
Huddersfield Royal Infirmary, formally opened in 1967, is on the edge of the village, and a new emergency department opened on North Drive in May 2024. If you live near the hospital, say where the van can stop. Lindley Junior School is on George Street.
