Lightcliffe: what to know before moving day
The oldest part of the village is around the Sun Inn, a former coaching inn on what was once the main road to London. The Stray, the 11-acre park, has a war memorial from 1923 and an avenue of trees planted for the 1937 coronation. St Matthew's Church on Wakefield Road was built in the 1870s, and the tower of the 1775 church it replaced still stands nearby; both are Grade II listed.
Crow Nest, a home at different times of Ann Walker and of Sir Titus Salt, has been demolished and its grounds are now a golf course, alongside Lightcliffe Golf Club. Lydgate Park is a residential street around Lydgate House, another Walker home, and Walker also lived at Cliffe Hill, which survives. Lightcliffe Academy is the secondary school, and Cliffe Hill Community Primary School is about 275 metres from Stoney Lane. With a large detached house, tell the driver whether the van can use the drive.
How the van gets to Lightcliffe
Wakefield Road, the A649, runs through the village, with Stoney Lane and Till Carr Lane leading off it, and Leeds Road is the other main road through Lightcliffe. From Bradford the A641 comes down to Bailiff Bridge, where the A649 turns off towards Lightcliffe. The whole trip is roughly 20 to 30 minutes by the estimate.

Can I take a train to Lightcliffe to meet the van?
Not to Lightcliffe itself. Its station closed in 1965 and Hipperholme's in 1953, although the line between Bradford and Halifax still runs through. The nearest stations now are Halifax and Brighouse.
