Fulneck: what to know before moving day
Members of the Moravian Church bought the land in 1744 and named it after Fulnek in Moravia. Within a few years they had built housing, a school and the chapel, finished in 1748 and now Grade I listed. Many of the 18th-century stone houses along the terrace are Grade II listed, among them 19 to 27 Fulneck, a row of five cottages, 47 to 57 Fulneck, Nelson House, and the old settlement shop of about 1762, now Cafe 54. The Moravian Museum is opposite the church.
Fulneck School, founded in 1753, closed in 2025. Fulneck Golf Club, from 1892, is the oldest golf club in the Leeds area, and footpaths lead down the valley to Tong and onto the Leeds Country Way. On the Pudsey side, Fartown has its own listed cottages at 119 to 123 and 129 Fartown, and the Southroyd and Hillthorpe streets sit behind it.
How the van gets to Fulneck
The lane through the settlement, simply called Fulneck, is mapped as one-way at 15 mph and for access only, joining Fartown at one end and Roker Lane at the other. Fartown and Roker Lane are 30 mph roads that lead up into Pudsey, where the B6154 and the A647 give the way back towards Bradford.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 15 to 30 minutes. That is an estimate from route data, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.

Yes. The England cricket captain Sir Leonard Hutton was born in Fulneck, and a blue plaque marks his former home in the settlement.
