Moving in Flappit Spring: what to know first
Flappit Spring is a few houses, farms and stables round the junction, with Springfield Cottages up a short lane, so most addresses are on Halifax Road or Haworth Road themselves. Both are 40 mph by the junction and 60 mph beyond, and Halifax Road has a pavement on one side only and stretches without street lights. The van needs to load off the carriageway, so tell us about your drive or yard when you book, and in winter plan to finish in daylight.
Away from the main roads the ways in are rough. Hardgate Lane is a farm track, so send a photo of the surface and the gateway if your home is along it. The Flappit's car park is for the pub's customers, and Topfield is a caravan site with its own rules, so ask first before the van uses either, then let us know when you book what they said.
Flappit Spring: the local picture
The junction is most of the place: The Flappit on Halifax Road, a bus stop on each road, Springfield Cottages a couple of hundred metres off and the Topfield caravan site behind. Both main roads are lit and limited to 40 mph here, and past it Brow Top Road carries on to Haworth at 60. Cullingworth Moor and Staples Brow are the named ground around, with Bleak House Farm and Manywells Beck further off.
The parish line runs close, so neighbouring postcodes land in different places: BD21 5PU is in Cullingworth parish, but BD21 5PZ, under half a kilometre away, is in Cross Roads parish and the Worth Valley ward. For a house on the main road, point out a lay-by or drive, as a stop on a 40 mph trunk road is best kept short.
How the van gets to Flappit Spring
The B6144 does the whole job from Bradford: it leaves the city as Toller Lane, carries on as Haworth Road and Wilsden Road, runs through Cullingworth and meets the A629 Halifax Road at Flappit Spring. From Keighley the A629 climbs south to the same junction, and from Haworth the B6144 comes up Brow Top Road.
The drive from Bradford is roughly 20 to 35 minutes. That is an estimate, not a timed run, and traffic changes it.
