The practical base for a village-centre delivery is the Bronte Village car park off Sun Street, which has no height barrier and takes a Transit comfortably. From there, or from Changegate, a sofa goes up on a trolley with a hand steadying it the whole way, because setts under a loaded barrow behave nothing like tarmac. At the top of it, the cottages are their own problem. Weavers' cottages and through terraces on the centre streets are often three storeys, with stepped approaches, no rear access and a narrow staircase turning between floors.
