Ten miles to Bradford, and they are the slowest ten of the day
The B6144 Haworth Road out through Cullingworth, Wilsden and Sandy Lane takes twenty-five to thirty-five minutes to cover ten miles, and that is before a full load is factored in. Dropping down the valley to Keighley instead is no quicker. So the first hour of a run to London or Cornwall barely registers on the odometer, and the departure gets planned around that rather than wished away.
Weekends make it worse. Tourist and coach traffic fills the village, the car parks go early, and during the Bronte events and the 1940s weekend the place is solid. A midweek collection started first thing is worth asking for. What does not change is the van: belongings are carried down from the cottage once, loaded once, and taken off at the other end by the same driver, with nothing transferred and no sharing the space with three other households.
What Haworth long distance & nationwide usually involves
- Bronte Village car park off Sun Street has around 300 spaces and no height barrier, which makes it the one we work a Transit LWB from
- Village-centre cottages are often three storeys with a narrow staircase and no rear access at all, so the carry takes real time before any driving starts
- The lanes out to Stanbury and Lumbfoot are walled to the kerb and rely on passing places, so an unfamiliar property gets looked at before the van commits to it
- Weekend and event days are avoided for long collections wherever the dates allow
- A village cottage usually fits one load; a larger house out at Oxenhope or a converted barn may not, and that gets settled from photos first
Where in Haworth we work
- Main Streetsetted and unparkable, so everything is barrowed down to the van rather than loaded at the door
- Changegate and Sun Streetthe practical loading points for anything coming off the top of the village
- Mill Hey and Brow Topmill terraces and back-to-backs lower down, where the van gets much closer
- Rawdon Road and Bridgehouse Lanepost-war semis and modern estates with parking, the straightforward end of Haworth
- Cross Roads and Leesfamily housing on the Keighley side, often the start of a job relocation
- Stanburyconverted barns and farmhouses on narrow walled lanes, a careful approach with a long load
If your street isn't listed it's almost certainly still covered, Haworth and the surrounding BD22 postcodes are all inside our normal working area.
Common Haworth runs
- Haworth to Bradford or Keighleythe slow local leg that begins every long run out of the Worth Valley
- Haworth to Londonan early midweek collection, one van, delivery time fixed before the day
- Anywhere in the UK to Haworthincoming moves into the village, where the carry up from the car park is the real work
What it costs
Distance, how much there is to carry down from the village and whether the delivery is same-day or next-morning are what shape the price. There's no travel surcharge for coming to Haworth from Bradford, and you get the price before we set off, not after. See how we quote for the full breakdown.
Frequently asked questions: long distance & nationwide in Haworth
How do you load a Main Street house for a long distance move?
From the bottom. Main Street is setted, steep and has no parking, so the van sits in the Bronte Village car park off Sun Street and we barrow everything down in trips. It takes longer than a doorstep load, so we book the collection early and allow for it in the timings.
Can you collect at a weekend?
We work seven days, but Haworth weekends are genuinely difficult. Coach and tourist traffic fills the village and the car parks go early, and event weekends are worse. If your dates allow a weekday we will get you away far quicker, which matters when the drive is 250 miles.
Will my things share the van with someone else's move?
No. It is one van and one driver, and the van is yours for the run. Your belongings are loaded in Haworth, stay in the same vehicle the whole way, and come off at the address at the other end on an agreed day, not in a delivery window.
