Why a Main Street delivery starts at the bottom of the hill

A long wheelbase van cannot work from the door on Main Street or Changegate. There is no parking and very little room, so furniture gets barrowed up from Sun Street or the bottom of Changegate, and the three-storey weavers' cottages above have narrow stairs, stepped approaches and no rear access. This is where measuring before travelling matters most in the whole Worth Valley. Timing is the other half. Weekends and the Bronte and 1940s events fill the village with visitors and coaches, and the car parks go early. The one to aim for with a Transit is Bronte Village off Sun Street, which has no height barrier, unlike some.
