Low bridges, wet setts and a van's width of road
Three things catch people out collecting here. The canal and railway bridges around Ingrow and Riddlesden are low enough to need checking before a high load goes anywhere near them. The terraced streets climbing out of the Aire and Worth valleys, Fell Lane, Highfield and Thwaites Brow especially, are steep and in places setted, which is heavy going in the wet with a loaded van. And the rows are parked nose to tail on both sides.
That last one is the real time cost. On a street like that, the only way to work is to double-park briefly with someone watching the road while the item comes out, so we plan the collection to be quick rather than leisurely. If the seller can move their own car off the kerb for twenty minutes, say so when you book, because it changes the job completely.
What Keighley marketplace & ebay collection usually involves
- A650 Aire Valley road out through Shipley and Bingley and onto the relief road, about ten miles and twenty-five to thirty-five minutes from Bradford
- The Airedale Shopping Centre multi-storey is reached by a ramp off Hanover Street and has a height barrier, so it's no use to us; town-centre work is loading-bay only
- Low canal and railway bridges around Ingrow and Riddlesden get checked before we commit a tall load to that route
- Rear access on the central terraces is by ginnel only, so items leave through the front door regardless of what's in the back yard
- Low Street and Cavendish Street are pedestrianised, so a shop-flat collection gets timed for the access window or done from the nearest legal stop
Where in Keighley we work
- Highfield and Guardhousedense back-to-backs and terraces, ginnel-only rear access and no driveways at all
- Fell Lane and Thwaites Browsteep, partly setted streets where wet weather changes how we park and load
- Ingrow and Riddlesdenlow bridge country, worth checking the approach before a tall item is loaded
- Utley and Long Leebigger stone semis on better plots, usually a drive and an easier carry
- Braithwaitepost-war estates with hardstandings, straightforward loading compared with the centre
- Airedale Business Park, Royd Ings Avenueunit and trade listings collected off a proper loading door
If your street isn't listed it's almost certainly still covered, Keighley and the surrounding BD20-BD22 postcodes are all inside our normal working area.

Frequently asked questions: marketplace & ebay collection in Keighley
Is there a surcharge for coming out to Keighley?
No. Keighley is about ten miles up the A650 and sits inside our normal working area, so there's no extra for the distance out. The price is built from the total run between the seller and you, and the time the item takes to move.
The seller's terrace has cars parked solid outside. How do you manage?
We hold the lane briefly with someone watching the road and work fast, which is why we like to know in advance what we're lifting. If the seller can free up their own kerb space for twenty minutes it makes a real difference, so it's worth asking them.
Can you collect something tall, like a wardrobe or an American fridge?
Yes, the van has 1.7m of standing height and 3.4m of length. The thing to watch in Keighley isn't the van, it's the low bridges around Ingrow and Riddlesden, so tell us the collection postcode and we'll route around them if needed.
